The Michigan DNR has awarded YDWP a grant for a forestry project in a little-visited section of the Community Forest. The grant includes funds for climate resilient and fruiting trees as well as habitat enhancement for a variety of fauna, including the golden-winged warbler, a bird species in deep decline.
We are seeking volunteers to join us for a planting day on Wednesday, 5/14, beginning at 9:30am. We will be planting, fertilizing, fencing, and watering trees and shrubs as well as sowing seed along roadways and clearings. Lunch will be provided.
We will access the site via the Remington Rd (County Road KCH), off County Road 550 in Powell Township. See the accompanying map for the exact address.
